Answer: No. Thankfully, you have "homestead" rights in Florida. You may have a decent lawsuit against those credit collection people who call your job (George v. Jordan Marsh) under the Fair Debt and Collection Practices Act. The best way to respond to these hemorrhoidal callers, however, is to simply ask them, "Would you mind holding for just a moment?" You might let 'em think a bit more about their approach as you cook dinner for your family, take a shower, or better yet, help with your kids' homework, and then perhaps check on the caller every 30 minutes. That'll usually stop 'em from calling your house.
