Your friendly neighborhood Government stealing from old people

AddThis Social Bookmark Button

God willing, the best of you among us - those who profess to care enough about their fellow man to run for elected office, will somehow find a politically intelligent and savvy way to extend grace to the overburdened seniors, i.e., men and women who can't afford the property taxes on the homes they've worked their whole lives to pay off!

These poor souls who have sacrificed, saved and paid off their home mortgages over decades of hard work (in the face of the otherwise omnipresent and hovering banks) - and this could be your parents or mine, whose social security checks cannot keep up with our country's insidious, creeping inflation over time, are now losing their homes to their God- forsaken County Tax Collector's office of the government?!?!?! Tell me this is not so, please, for the love of humanity and God's children - who by the way, are these very same souls.

The politician who figures out how to save these poor people from losing their homes - while still putting the thieves away in jail (i.e., corrupt politicians who have squandered the people's tax dollars on perks and programs that don't benefit the people), will be elected to VERY high office, to be sure.

At a minimum - and this assumes we cannot stop the tax deed from issuing (ie, from the tax burdened debtors/seniors, to the tax authority/county government) then maybe the seniors could be given a "life estate" in their own home (ie, allowed to live in their homes until they pass away), before the homes may be occupied and sold by the Government.

That is just one quick idea, no doubt flawed on some levels, but an idea nonetheless!

Maybe some of you ought to run for office to help correct this perverted system that would fleece these innocent seniors and oust them from their homes, tossed to the streets like Monday's trash pick up. If not you, then let's join together to elect people who care and dare to do something about this.

All of us will soon be there, so we might as well muster up some compassion and empathy now, rather than wait until we're personally affected later. What do you think?

Praying for a better way,

John Contini

What happens if I get into a fight in traffic?

Answer: You get the hell beat out of you, unless you can fight real well. Seriously, this is a very bad idea, since people are getting shot and killed in these road rage incidents all the time these days. It's a very dangerous world we're living in today.

The legal answer, however, is: If you are in a "road rage" situation and you so much as put your hand inside the other person's car, it is a felony called "Burglary of a Conveyance." Putting you hand on the outside of their car is not a crime, but if your hand "breaks and enters" the imaginary plane or airspace within their car, that is considered under the law to be "breaking and entering," otherwise known in Florida as a "burglary." And, if you touch the driver (or anyone in that car) against their will, the felony is then upgraded to "Burglary of a Conveyance with a Battery," punishable by 30 years!
